Knee Procedures

Arthroscopy of the Knee Joint
The arthroscope is a fiber-optic telescope that can be inserted into a joint (commonly
the knee, shoulder and ankle) to evaluate and treat a number of conditions.

Articular Cartilage Repair
Articular or hyaline cartilage is the tissue lining the surface of the two bones in the
knee joint. Cartilage helps the bones move smoothly against each other and can withstand
the weight of the body during activities such as running and jumping.

Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
A Total Knee Replacement (TKR) or Total Knee Arthroplasty is a surgery that replaces an
arthritic knee joint with artificial metal or plastic replacement parts called the
‘prostheses’.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction
ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction is a commonly performed surgical
procedure. With recent advances in arthroscopic surgery, it can now be performed with
minimal incision and low complication rates.

ACL Reconstruction Hamstring Tendon
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with hamstring tendon is a surgical
procedure to replace the torn ACL with part of the hamstring tendon taken from your leg.

ACL Reconstruction Patellar Tendon
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with patellar tendon is a surgical
procedure that replaces the injured ACL with a patellar tendon. The goal of ACL
reconstruction surgery is to tighten your knee and to restore its stability.

Unicondylar Knee Replacement
Unicondylar Knee Replacement simply means that only a part of the knee joint is replaced
through a smaller incision than would normally be used for a total knee replacement.

Revision Knee Replacement
Revision Knee Replacement means that part or all of your previous knee replacement needs
to be revised. This operation varies from very minor adjustments to massive operations
replacing significant amounts of bone.

Meniscus Surgery
Meniscus tear is the commonest knee injury in athletes, especially those involved in
contact sports. A suddenly bend or twist in your knee cause the meniscus to tear.

Medial Collateral Ligament Reconstruction
Medial collateral ligament (MCL) is one of the four major ligaments of the knee that
connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone) and is present on the inside of
the knee joint. This ligament helps stabilize the knee.

Posterior Cruciate Ligament Tear & Reconstruction
Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), one of four major ligaments of the knee is situated
at the back of the knee. It connects the thighbone (femur) to the shinbone (tibia). The
PCL limits the backward motion of the shinbone.

Meniscus Transplant
Meniscus transplant is a highly skilled procedure involving accurate diagnosis,
acquisition of the perfect donor tissue, complex surgery, and specialized
rehabilitation. Dr. Amit Meena is one of the few entities in the
Middle East specialized in performing this procedure.
